This year a strange thing happened. The high scorer in close-up went over
the time limit in one room due to events that were not his fault. A
medal was at stake. The Contest authorities met with the other contestants
and explained the circumstances without naming names and asked them to
vote whether to let the two top-scorers split the cash prize and the medal.
To a man, they voted yes. Thanks to the generosity of spirit that exists
in our Society, two people, Shawn Farquhar (right) and Joe Cole, share the
High Score in Close-up and the Silver Medal of Merit.
