February Meeting:
Ropes and Strings at Ring's

Continuing the idea of rotating meeting places until we find a new permanent home, the February meeting will take place at the home of secretary Dana Ring, at 7:30 PM on February 14th.  The theme is string and rope magic and everyone is asked to bring a trick to teach.

Minutes of Jan. Meeting

10 January 2005 7:50 PM We had an informal meeting at the home of president Dan Sclare.
The minutes were accepted after one correction: it’s "Disappearing Soap," not soup.
Treasurer’s report: We have a reported balance.
Dana Ring shared the report of the November National Council meeting.
G&W: Dan shared a thank-you card from Jerry Viglione.
Bill Smyth has volunteered to help find a meeting place for us.
Dan passed around SAM206’s Assembly Program Study Guide that he got off the Web.
VP Ron Strong noted that the International Deaf Magicians will be holding a convention in Hartford this spring.  He will be talking with their president to see if we can help them in any way.
Dan showed us a videotape he had compiled of magicians on TV over the years.  It included Doug Henning, Joseph, Tompsoni and Harry Anderson, as well as a local news story on the old Round Robin magic club featuring Dr. Bulalong, Gary Dziatko and Bill Smyth, with Bill Greenough, Ben Cohen and Bassett Mordecai.  He also showed us a video on Fire-Eating that convinced him to postpone his own fire-eating career indefinitely.

Johnny Carson Dies

The great Johnny Carson started out as a magician back in Nebraska.  Dan Sclare sent in this picture.
