April Meeting:
Food Magic?

We have a new meeting place--Angelo’s on Main (the site of the Rockledge Golf Course).  See directions at left.  Since we’re back in a restaurant, bring magic appropriate to that venue.  Join us for dinner at 6PM, and the meeting will start (as near as possible) at 7:30.  That’s April 11.  Be there.

Minutes of March Meeting

14 March 2005  7:50 PM
We had another informal meeting at the home of Dana Ring, VP Ron Strong presiding. VP’s report: The Deaf Magicians are looking for two skilled magicians to act as judges for Stage, Comedy and Close-Up competition.  No date has been finalized yet [May 15 at press time].  Nor has a venue been set [CT Expo Center].  They will e-mail "rules" to Ron.
Old Business: Dana passed information on how we do public shows to the West Hartford "PT" council.
Adjourned: 8:30 PM.

Aftermeeting: Money Magic
John Marenholtz folded a dollar bill widthwise, covered it with a card bent lengthwise, used a toothpick to penetrate the card and was able to move the pick back and forth. When the pick was removed, the bill was shown unharmed.  He then explained how the bill was made using two bills and special folds.
Dana folded a bill into an imitation of George Washington’s axe.  He was able to break a pencil with it!  This is one of the tricks he teaches his SYM group.

Tim Ellis And Sue-Anne Webster In Wallingford

From Henry at Assembly 127:
Tim Ellis and Sue-Anne will lecture on Tuesday, April 19th, 7:30 PM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 279 Quinnipiac Street, in Wallingford.
Tim has won over twenty awards and is world renowned for his highly original and entertaining twists on the "classics" of magic, as a result he is the only Australian ever to win twice at the FISM World Championship of Magic.  Sue-Anne has performed drama professionally in theater, film, and television and is trained in mime, puppetry and Latin dance.  As a team, they were voted "Most Valuable Performers" at the prestigious FFFF close-up magicians conference in New York, 2001. Other awards include: Silver Medal Close-Up Magic, FISM (Japan), Special Prize of The Jury, FISM (Switzerland), Champion Close-Up Magician of Australia, Champion Stage Magician of Australia.  Tim Ellis and Sue-Anne Webster are two of Australia's most experienced, most recognized, and most awarded magicians, and when they get together on the one show you're in for one wild ride!

Dan Garrett To Lecture At May Meeting

PNP Dan Garrett will present a lecture to us on May 9 at our new meeting site.  Called "The Last Palindrome," this lecture features all new material for many performing situations.  Includes a new sponge ball routine that fools magicians and takes little skill; a fun torn-and-restored dollar bill routine with a borrowed bill and hilarious "repeat;" and a fascinating multi-change packet effect which may be performed impromptu, with a borrowed deck; plus "Best of Garrett" classics as time permits.
