Minutes of January Meeting

9 January 2006   7:37 PM
Sec’y’s report: accepted as printed.
Pres. report: MI Dan Sclare announced the visitors.
Treas’ report: balance reported.
New Bus.: Dan thanked meeting host Dana Ring for his hard work organizing tonight’s meeting.  Dan passed around news clippings of magic appearances of Dan Bowen and Jonathan Jacques.  Dan has printed up new flyers for our club and asks members to put them up where they will do the most good.  Last month, Dan bought a one-inch ad in the January issue of M-U-M congratulating the new format.  It was moved and passed to reimburse Dan from the club treasury.
Old Bus.: Honored guest National President Rich Dooley commented on the new M-U-M.  He also praised Dave Goodsell for his years of work, and extoled the virtues of the National Convention.
G & W: Guest Tom Gentile acknowledged Fred Ryan’s passing.  NEMCON 17 is on February 25.
Adjourned: 7:52 PM

When Last We Met
The newest initiates--front row: Dan Sclare, Ed Kazar, Karen Gibson, Angelo Chirico; second row: Dave Margolin, Rich Gilbert, Kat Lovell, Marlene Clark.  In the back row is the Initiatory Team: Dana Ring, Tom Gentile, Rich Dooley, Len Lazar, Walt Umberfield, Cal Vinick.

Aftermeeting: The Full-Form Initiation Ceremony.
Members of our club were joined by members of the Springfield and Wallingford assemblies to take part in the area’s first "full-form" initiation ceremony in decades.  National President Rich Dooley served as Most Illustrious, presiding over the ritual.  The initiates were led by the Sorcerer around the room to the Incantator, the Wizard and the Alchemist who instructed the group in the secrets of our Society, aided by the Cabalist.  When all were sworn in, MI Dooley presented each initiate with a wand, hand-painted by Dana Ring, who also sewed all the robes and capes.

Friends in February/
March in Magic
E llusionist has donated a pair of their "Black" decks to be given as door prizes for our membership drive.  Those that bring a non-member guest to the March meeting are eligible for a drawing for one of the decks.  The other deck goes to the winner of a drawing from among the guests brought!  Help build on National’s momentum to increase membership.  Bring a friend!
