Magicians don’t copy each other; it’s just that they all own Zig-Zag illusions
July Meeting:
Manipulations and Sleights

Charlier cuts.  Bobo switches.  Downs, Tenkais, and culls, oh my!  Warm up your fingers and show off your favorite move.  The meeting is July 9 and starts at 7:30 PM.  Join the officers for dinner, if you can, at 6:00 PM.

Minutes of June Meeting

11 June 2007   7:38 PM
Pres. Angelo Chirico welcomed guest lecturer Jay Ungar.
Sec’y’s report: accepted as printed.
Tres. rpt.: balance reported.
Angelo reported that Tom Prete passed away.  Services are this Saturday in West Haven.  [Attending the service were Dan Sclare, Walt Umberfield, Soll Levine, Marlene Clark, and Dana Ring.]
Dan Sclare will follow up with the Veterans’ Program once school is out on the 19th.  He will be looking for volunteers.
Angelo is scheduling the Fall Spectacular for November to be sure it does not conflict with SAMCON.
Jim Pace has a lecture available for August, though not on our normal meeting date.  “Ice” McDonald also has a lecture available for Sept./Oct.  The officers will pursue both of them. If Pace is available on the 20th, we’ll book him and change the meeting date for that month.
Dan passed around a news article about a guy who makes structures out of playing cards.
Len Lazar reports Aldo Columbini has a website featuring a new trick every week.
We voted in Derek Nadeau as a new member.
Kevin Aust is recently returned from Vegas where he saw a lot of great magic.
“The Late Late Show” (CBS) had “magic week” recently—featuring a different magician each night.  —>

When Last We Met

Jay Ungar laments the decayed condition of “Hanky,” once the glamourous star of the show.

<— Norm St. Laurent points out that www.itricks.com has hours of magic videos.
Adjourned: 8:01 PM
After a short break, we enjoyed a great lecture by Jay Ungar from Springfield.  His repertoire featured such wonders as: “the magical warm-up exercise” where he seemingly twists his arms completely around; “Dot Stick” which takes paddle moves to a new level; from a deck of cards, a named card appears at a named number; and “Hanky,” a tongue-in-cheek memorial to a once-lustrous handkerchief which turns into a mere thread.

PNP Jim Zee is an expert dice stacker, but it’s doubtful even he can come up with this:
