MASKLYN’S LAW OF MAGICK:

If your act doesn’t sell, you’ve stolen the wrong act.
March Meeting:
Transformations

As we wait for winter to transform into spring, share an effect where something transforms into something else.  A silver coin to a copper coin.  A toothpick into a broom handle.  A rose into a violet.  To make it more of a challenge, there is one additional rule: No cards! Bwah-ha-ha-haaaah!  Join us March 10 and share the knowledge.  The meeting starts at 7:30 PM, preceded by dinner at 6:00 PM.

Minutes of Feb. Meeting

11 February 2008  7:43 PM

Sec’y’s report: accepted as published.

Treas’ report: Our balance was reported.

President Angelo Chirico called for a roll call.

Old Bus.: VP Dan Sclare contacted Bruce Kalver.  March 31st is confirmed for a lecture by Rob Cox.  This will be a separate function, not a meeting night. The club discussed the March meeting—Historical Night.  It was decided to move “Historical Night” to April in order to give us more time to get former members the information.
MI Angelo contacted the Veteran’s Hospital.  They have a new auditorium opening in May.  Angelo will keep us informed.
We are looking to have a Magic Weekend, possibly the first weekend in May.

New Bus.: The theme for next month will be “Transformations,” but no cards!

G&W: Tom O’Brien was on “Good Morning Connecticut” this morning.  Jim Spinnato will be at Hall High in West Hartford this Thursday.
Dan LaRosa will be at Manchester High School on Wednesday.
The club held a moment of silence for our departed compeer Jerry Viglione. We had a second reading for Chris White.  He strapped Angelo into a neck frame and passed a sword through the frame and Angelo’s neck.  For some reason, Angelo had no comment.  Chris also did the “crazy man’s handcuffs,” but he also re-linked the rubber bands after he pulled them apart.  He was welcomed into the group after a unanimous vote.

Adjourned: 8:15 PM

Tonight’s theme was “Improving Your Sleights.”  Various members demonstrated many sleights:

  • Angelo — a slip shuffle
  • Len Lazar — the Eliot change, plus a lecture on doing card sleights for large groups
  • Walt Umberfield — a shuffle by Luca, plus stealing a knot of rope, and a double lift combined with a turnover
  • Bob Teralia — a move which adds a card to the top of the deck
  • Dana Ring — a simple disappearing knot
  • Norm St.Laurent — a coin production using a finger palm
  • Chris White — using a French Drop to slap a coin through the neck and produce it from the mouth
