July Meeting: Food Magic

Our esteemed president has declared, “It’s okay to play with your food.”  So let’s see Bill To Rutabaga, Multiplying Melon Rinds, Floating Baked Potato, and Linking Onion Rings.  Anything food-related is fair game.  Let’s set our imaginations to work.
The meeting is July 14 and starts at 7:30 PM.  Join the officers for dinner, please, at 6:00 PM.

Minutes of June Meeting

9 June 2008 7:52 PM
Sec. rpt.: Accepted as published.
Tres. rpt.: balance was reported.
O. B.: Plans for the fall show were discussed.  We are looking to schedule it for the first weekend, possibly just the Saturday, of November.  A separate “kids” show would not be practical this time (because it’s not a benefit for Mel, like last year).  Dave Garrity said he could not do the 1st, but could do the 8th.
Chris White volunteered to take over “scribe” duties for reporting to M-U-M.
The Veterans’ show is postponed because the wing of the VA building is not ready yet.
N. B.: We cast our ballot for the National Officers.
We appointed Secretary Dana Ring to be delegate to the National Council meeting in July.
Aldo Colombini is available in the fall. One of his dates matches our November meeting.  It was voted to attempt to book that date. [Got him.]
Dave Garrity got an email from Brad Ross, who lectures on marketing your show.  Dave will look into possibly July or August.
Next week, the Wallingford assembly is hosting Troy Hooser.
G&W: Last Sunday [6/1], the Connecticut Children's Medical Center hosted the first of what they hope to be annual “cancer-survivors Field Days.”  Dana and VP Dan Sclare joined several youngsters from Bill

←   Andrews’ SYM group, plus one from Dana’s in doing walkaround and stage magic for the attendees.
Adjourned 8:34PM
Tonights theme was “Favorite Trick”.
President Angelo Chirico’s favorite was the vanishing cane given to him by Mel, and a Mike Kennedy Mind Power deck.
Dave Garrity did a combination of Glorpy and Out To Lunch to perform a “spirited” trick.
Dana performed The Hatfields and the McCoys.
Kevin Aust did his fork-bending routine, and then walked us all through it, giving us our own forks to torture.

Happy Stamford
Anniversaries

Stamford just celebrated two milestones last month.  PNP Bill Andrews’ SYM #42 turned 20, and SAM #33, after a period of dormancy, has been back on the active list for a year.  To one: well done; to the other: welcome back!
